mc Command: Tutorial & Examples

Start the Midnight Commander

The mc command is short for Midnight Commander, a text-based file manager and visual shell for Unix-like operating systems. It provides a two-panel interface for navigating and manipulating the file system, as well as a number of additional features such as file searching, editing, and management of remote files via FTP and other protocols. The command can be run in the terminal by simply typing mc and pressing enter.

Here at CleverUptime, we use the Midnight commander a lot for navigating the file system and copying files.
